Webinar: THE HARD PART WAS KEEPING ME OUT: HEALTHCARE, LAW ENFORCEMENT, SURVIVOR ADVOCATES AND HARM REDUCTION SERVICES UNITE
Issue Area #3: Continuum of Care
Wednesday, October 14, 2 – 3:30 PM ET
Survivor of sex trafficking, “It wasn’t as hard to get me out of “the life”, the hard part was keeping me out.” Collaborative teams, including harm reduction agencies, join hands with medical professionals and law enforcement to mitigate the harmful encounters that have previously been noted by survivors of sex trafficking as judgmental and re-traumatizing. A Statewide model of care for victims of sex trafficking supports the goal of recovery, health, and successful re-entry. Uniquely accomplished through a trauma-informed response team, gives access to medical providers, coordinated through advocacy partnership. Presentation is led by physician champion, a Sergeant serving years on FBI Child Exploitation Task Force for CSEC, and Director of a harm reduction agency supporting victims.
